PROFESSIONAL CARBON TUBES AND PARTS

  • Telescopi Italiani are providing its experience and expertise in manufacturing high quality professional grade carbon fiber products.

PROFESSIONAL CARBON TUBES FOR YOUR REFRACTOR OR BAFFLE

We design, optimize and manufacture professional single skin carbon tube using wrapping method up to 240 mm inner diameter.

Roll-wrapping involves the applying of resin pre-impregnated composite fiber cloth (Pre-Preg) around a mandrel. The outer diameter of the mandrel thus determines the inner diameter of the final tube. The mandrel and cloth are then spiral wrapped with a consolidation tape under tension to hold the laminate in place during the curing phase. After curing, the mandrel is extracted to leave the tube ready for machining or finishing as necessary.

In our carbon tubes we can decide the angle of the carbon fiber for each layer in order to have higher Young Module against to the prevailing loads and reaching the best carbon fiber to resin ratio.

We can do tubes as thin as 0,4 mm and 6 mm thick.

Single skin carbon tubes can be used for:

  • Refractor telescope tubing – for the best thermal & structural stiffness vs. weight
  • Truss structure telescope – for professional truss tube assembly
  • Stray light baffling – for light baffles
  • Roll Wrapped carbon fiber tubes up to 240 mm ID

    • Real angle fiber 0° to 90°
    • High Tensile Modulus up to 180 GPa
    • Very low density as 1,6 kg/dm3
  • Single skin vacuum bag carbon tubes up to 600 mm ID

    • Pre-preg or carbon fiber weave (Plain, Twill, …)
    • Carbon look or custom painted

PROFESSIONAL SANDWICH CARBON TUBES FOR YOUR TELESCOPE

We design, optimize and manufacture sandwich carbon tube using pre-preg layers and pressure chamber up to 580 mm inner diameter.

In our carbon tube you can decide the core thickness, core material (Nomex honeycomb, PVC/PET Foam, etc) and carbon skin thickness.

You can decide to have carbon look or painted surfaces. You can decide to have solid carbon, brass, aluminium, inox,  threaded or not, custom internal inserts for high stiff support point.

  • Inner diameter up to 580 mm, Length up to 1700 mm

  • Core thickness up 30 mm, Carbon Look or Painted, Inserts and (threaded) holes as customer request
